Children Ages 10-14
SmartQ's thinking improvement platform consists of 8 short modules of study. These 8 modules are designed to improve a good range of the thinking functions of your child's brain, which, you will agree, is absolutely essential for their academic excellence, as well as all other life pursuits.
This opportunity is unique and rare because It is strategic in design, isolated from subject content and targeted entirely on the thinking mechanisms.
A programmed platform like this allows your child to have the explicit tools to examine their own thinking development, activate dormant thinking, and strengthen and improve the weaker signals.
SUCH INTENSE AND IN-DEPTH FOCUS ON THEIR PERSONAL THINKING DEVELOPMENT IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE VIA NORMAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS.
CHILDREN AGES 10-14
By this age children should be able to meta-cognate. This means they should be able to have a clear understanding of how they think when faced with a learning task. They need to have an appreciation of some of their thinking strengths and areas they find difficult. They should be able to THINK ABOUT their own thinking.
Furthermore, they need to have gained an awareness that thinking is a growing function of their brain, and it helps when these functions are "firing on all cylinders".
MORE SPECIFICALLY
They should be able to recognise areas they have mastered and areas which will benefit from further stimulation and mediation.
They should be able to describe their own thinking habits, patterns, strengths and challenges in the same way an athlete describes their skills developments.
They should be able to use specific language and vocabulary as everyday tools to review and assess their own inner thinking development and mastery.
Furthermore, they should have a clear understanding that thinking is a skill that can be learnt and improved. which can also make a difference to their academic performance, continual improvement, and quality of life. For more please click here
WHY IS OUR PROGRAMME UNIQUE?
We introduce the skills first in their raw form. There is no content or information to distract from their understanding. It is like learning the "nuts and bolts" of thinking.
We teach the mechanisms of a particular cognitive function first and then let the child introduce content as a demonstration of their understanding and mastery of that thinking function.

We target Ages 10-14 because this is a critical point in their academic progress. At this age children are transitioning between primary and secondary studies.
For more information on why children in this age group will find this programme most beneficial according to their needs please head to IS YOUR CHILD READY? page.
You may have many questions to clear before enrolling your child. Contact us via email or phone (whichever suits) and we will send more information specific to the first module, and answer all your questions.

We have attempted to provide additional information to assist in a better understanding of the process of thinking skills development in children, including factors that can cause development to be hindered and compromised (SECTIONS 2-4)
These sections contain the following discussions that are very brief but aid in understanding how thinking skills development can be under-developed and impede learning and performance.
SECTION 2 discusses very briefly the mechanisms of intelligence development in children especially during their early formative years in school. It basically discusses "What is Intelligence?"
SECTION 3 discusses thinking deficiencies that occur in children that miss out on the right level of mediation, stimulation or clarity to ignite their core thinking functions. Of course unless children are shown the gears they won't know what they are missing. THIS IS WHY SELF-AWARENESS IS VERY IMPORTANT
SECTION 4 discusses how these dormant or fragile or thus far deficient thinking skills that have missed out on sufficient and quality stimulation can be ignited and activated, making the child more independent, motivated and confident learner
These are very brief and simplified discussions designed to only serve as a backdrop to help understand our programme.
