So far we have arrived at the conclusion that Intelligence is not a FIXED quality of the brain. It is Mutable & Modifiable. With our new understanding of how the neural networks evolve during the thinking process, and the idea of propensity for growth, we can conclude that intelligence can be modified, and thus taught, (even in adulthood).
The brain can grow new networks even in old age.
"Intelligence is a malleable product of the mind". It is this malleability or modifiability that allows one to train for improvements and higher achievements.
The teaching of intelligence is best achieved by removing all other content from the activities and focusing entirely on the mechanisms of thinking. Having subject matter included, or relying on topics or content would then become less about intelligence teaching and more about subject teaching/learning
Intelligence teaching is best achieved in an environment where a coach isolates and targets the specific skills and the child strategically ignites and enhances their power to improve these skills one at a time.
THE MENTAL OPERATIONS OF DECIPHERING THE STIMULUS, PROCESSING THE RECEIVED INFORMATION AND RESPONDING INTELLIGENTLY CAN BE ISOLATED FROM SUBJECT CONTENT AND STRATEGICALLY TAUGHT IN A PROGRAMMED ENVIRONMENT.By isolating and targeting each skill at a time a child can grasp the mechanisms of that particular skill and be ready to apply them to solve any challenge in a strategic manner. They can also identify that skill easily and have a language to describe it and use it effectively.
The difference between programming intelligence in a child vs a child simply experiencing intelligence via everyday learning is the open, explicit and conscious awareness of the steps involved in effective thinking. It is not a gift but a learned attribute.
